County Council Meeting February 9, 2001
Meeting Minutes

1.Review of Minutes

Review of November 12th minutes – Minutes are reviewed and approved pending 
changes to be made by Lupita Jimenez.
Review of December 10th minutes - Minutes are reviewed and approved pending changes 
to be made by Jared Aldstadt.

January meeting minutes were taken by Karine Megerdoomian and will be reviewed at the March

2. Treasurer's Report – Tammy Tatum submits a treasurer's report for January 2001.  The final 
cash on hand is $80.18, and the balance after outstanding income is $236.38.

At this time, the treasurer's files are handed over to Magali Offerman for temporary 
keeping.

3. Platform Standing Committee Report – Michele Delehanty submits a monthly report and 
stresses that the committee is looking for plank readers.

4. State Representative Report – Ric Newberry gives the state representative report.  The next 
state plenary is coming in April.  There is no agenda for the plenary yet.  The state coordinating 
committee put out a press release on energy.

5. Local Reports
	There was no South Bay Meeting in January
	The SDSU Greens – Jared Aldstadt reports that the SDSU Greens are working on 
fundraising and a progressive magazine.
	The Lagoon Greens – Robert Nanninga reports that the Lagoon Greens are meeting on 
Monday.  Plans include a garage sale, a speaker series, and more networking.

6. Council accepts the resignation of Nelisse Muga.

7. Earth Day Discussion – The booth has been reserved and paid for.  Discussion about selling 
merchandise follows.  The best approach seems to be using merchandise as a reward for 
donations.  Research will be done on the price and Green Value compatibility of various T-shirt 
sources.  There is also discussion about the amount of literature to be distributed.  Consensus 
appears to be that we will not actively distribute a large amount of paper, but have our contact 
and issue information available for those that request it or show interest.  Robert Nanninga agrees 
to look into getting permission to have roving voter registration.

8.	Working Group Reports	
	The Bylaw Committee – The committee has met and divided responsibilities

	Energy Committee – Lupita Jimenez reports that this committee is watching the County 
Board of Supervisor's work on an independent utility district.

	Green Issues – Michele Delehanty has submitted this report along with the State 
Committee report.

	Electoral Reform – A letter to congresswoman Davis is drafted by Ron Schneider and 
approved by the council.

	Campaign Committee – Ron Fraga and Magali Offerman report that activities include 
research on campaign finance training and potential candidates.

	At this time Anne Menasche started discussion of the efforts of county in home care 
workers to be recognized as San Diego County Employees.  Anne will draft a letter of support for 
council approval.

9. Events Report
	The January 31st Energy Rally and Bailout Protest – The attendance was about 30 people, 
and Robert Nanninga sound bites were played on all local television stations except KNSD.
	Sunflower Awards – This event is to be held on Saturday, February 24th at the Joyce 
Beers Community Center.  It will be a potluck dinner, and attractions include the Green Wall of 
Wonder, the awards presentation, the Green Song, and dessert.

10. Misc.
	Online Calendar – There is currently no calendar keeper, and we will try to find one 
(possibly at the next general membership meeting).
	Online Decision Making – Ric Newberry has drawn up a proposal for an online decision 
making process, and discussion on the proposal will take place at the next county council 
meeting.
	Letterhead – Ron Fraga has agreed to make up some letterhead samples for review at the 
next meeting.
	Future County Council Meeting Times – Tuesday night at 6:30 PM will be the time of the 
next meeting.
