Green Party of San Diego County Focus and Goals Proposal 4/2/99 To provide general guidance to the County Council and to help the General Membership focus its deliberations and activities, the GPSD adopts the following policy statements: 1. A "long term goal" is understood to mean a general GPSD objective to be achieved in the long term greater than two years from the date of adoption. A "short term focus" is understood to mean a specific guideline for current GPSD activities intended to achieve an established long term goal of the GPSD. 2. All reasonable attempts will be made to limit official GPSD deliberations and activities to those fulfilling an established short term focus approved by the General Membership. 3. The long term goal of the GPSD is to establish GPSD as a credible local Green voice and force for change by building a large and active Green constituency and electing Greens to public office. General Membership and County Council deliberations shall be focused on achieving this goal. 4. A short term focus of the GPSD is to recruit more "active" members through voter registration, development of a Green people database, and any other activity likely to generate increased membership. 5. A short term focus of the GPSD is to generate grassroots activity and support by establishing and supporting Green Locals and Clubs. 6. A short term focus of the GPSD is to increase financial support for Green projects through fundraising events, development of a Green-friendly funding groups database, and any other activity likely to generate funds.
